Today I set myself to the “cannot be postponed anymore” task of moving my website. My old domain was about to expire, and after a bit of an argument with the sucky 1and1.co.uk customer service I’ve switched to Lunarpages so need to move everything over. I also decided to change the template to one of my own, since the old one didn’t have enough purple. This one has too much of it, so working on tweaking the colour scheme

Wordpress installation worked fine, exporting and reimporting the posts worked fine, even the theme installation worked fine. Pity Wordpress doesn’t export its settings or it all would have been perfect. It just took about half an hour extra to get everything back to how I like it to be, though I still need to add my favourite plugins. But overall, I think anybody wanting just a simple website should give Wordpress  a try as a CMS.

On totally unrelated news, Terry Pratchett released his new book, Unseen Academicals so I hope I can finish sorting out the blog and theme before it arrives home. Or I’ll have lots of purple around for a while.
